So your ready to take baby on their very first trip. Who knew one tiny human needs SO much stuff. As a mother to four I have picked up a few tips to make your first flight with baby a breeze.

Air travel can be a challenging experience, especially when your are a new partent. From packing essentials to keeping your baby calm and comfortable, there are several factors to consider when traveling on an airplane with a baby. In this blog post, we will discuss three tips that can help make your journey more comfortable and stress-free.

  1. Plan Ahead and Pack Strategically

Planning ahead and packing strategically are crucial when traveling with a baby. Start by making a checklist of all the essential items you will need for your baby, such as diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, pacifiers, blankets, and extra clothes. Be sure to pack enough supplies to last you for the entire flight, plus a few extras in case of delays.

When packing your baby’s essentials, consider packing them in a separate bag or compartment in your carry-on luggage. This will make it easier for you to access the items you need quickly without having to rummage through your luggage.

Additionally, you may want to consider packing a few toys or books to keep your baby entertained during the flight. Make sure the toys are small enough to fit in your carry-on luggage and do not make noise that could disturb other passengers.

Also planning your flight time to during nap and regular sleep times also is a huge bonus. Keep baby comfy in PJ’s so they are ready to nap when the plane takes off. This is by far the best advice ever shared and normally lets 2 hours in the air feel as stress free as possible.

  1. Choose the Right Seat

Choosing the right seat on the airplane can make a significant difference in your baby’s comfort and your overall travel experience. When booking your flight, consider booking a bulkhead seat, which offers more legroom and space for you to change your baby’s diaper. Alternatively, consider booking a seat near the aisle, which makes it easier for you to get up and move around with your baby if needed.

Additionally, if you are traveling with a partner or another adult, consider booking seats across the aisle from each other. This will allow each of you to have a little more space and make it easier for one person to take care of the baby while the other gets some rest.

  1. Be Prepared for Takeoff and Landing

Takeoff and landing can be stressful for babies as they can experience changes in air pressure, which can cause discomfort in their ears. To help ease your baby’s discomfort, consider feeding them during takeoff and landing. The sucking motion can help relieve the pressure in their ears.

If your baby is awake during takeoff and landing, consider distracting them with a toy or book. Alternatively, you can try singing or talking to them to help keep them calm and distracted.

Traveling on an airplane with a baby can be challenging, but with proper planning and preparation, you can make your journey more comfortable and stress-free. Remember to pack strategically, choose the right seat, and be prepared for takeoff and landing, and, most importantly, try to stay calm and patient throughout the flight. ENJOY the ride and I promise traveling with kids can be filled with so much JOY.

This Mommy & Me session at Crystal Cove Newport Beach couldn’t be perfect for this post. . Hair and Makeup arrived at Ali’s home while Ava napped. Shanon delivered our studio wardrobe, which they both wore these two adorable pink numbers. I met Ali and Ava, and we walked down the long path to the beach together. Ali and Ava had the best time playing in the sand and enjoyed the moment, letting Ava explore the beach. We captured the sweetest moments between this Mama Daughter Duo. Ali selected Custom framed artwork for her stairway, which I will share in a follow up post.
